Senator Tina Smith and Senator Amy Klobuchar,
Minnesota sportsmen, citizens, and Greater MN businesses and local governments demand you cease efforts to give away or transfer ownership of federal public recreational and forest land in Minnesota to tribal governments without even the courtesy of consulting with the aforementioned stakeholders affected by any such transfer. Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge, like many other federal refuge lands, were purchased thru the Migratory Bird Conservation Act and Duck Stamp program that was a voluntary compact requested by sportsmen to preserve land for migratory birds in trust for the wildlife and sportsmen, and in turn recreational industry, and also the replacement Payment In Kind taxes to provide for local governance income. Please cease and desist direction and cooperation with the Interior Department to forward efforts to transfer Minnesota’s federal recreational lands ownership into tribal trust.
Respectfully,
Sportsmen and citizens of Minnesota as attached
Governor Tim Walz,
Minnesota sportsmen, citizens, and Greater MN business and local governments demand you cease political efforts with your DFL colleagues to give away or transfer ownership of Minnesota public recreational and forest land and Wildlife Management Areas (some purchased with donated sportsmen and citizens funds to be held in trust by the state) and Scientific Nature Areas (some purchased or donated and purchased by sportsmen and conservationist orgs to be held in trust by the state) and lake accesses, to tribal trust ownership. Sportsmen and conservationists of Minnesota have not voluntarily purchased state stamps, voluntarily requested sales tax dedications, or purchased and transferred lands to the State of Minnesota in order for agents of one political party to convey them away from Minnesota public ownership in furtherance of political motivations in opposition to the sportsmen and citizens of Minnesota. Please use your public voice, position, and opposition to guarantee an end of all discussion of Minnesota public forest and recreational land transfers to entities that are empowered to remove them from guaranteed public access and benefit to all the people.
Respectfully,
Sportsmen and citizens of Minnesota as attached
